DEVISING DREAMS – Four devising sessions centered around dreaming. We will explore why dreaming keeps us going, how place affects our dreams, and how we portray dreams in a theatrical landscape.
This could manifest in many ways depending on the humans in the space, and the project’s overall goals may shift depending on what discoveries each workshop leads to. All that will be required of participants in this project is curiosity! Come in clothes ready to move around.

Sophia Urban is an emerging director, multimedia artist, and theatre maker from Champaign-Urbana and is a recent graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BFA in Theatre Studies and a concentration in Directing. Their directing practice is centered in collaboration and has been heavily influenced by their devising training. As a born and raised midwesterner and a child of a landscape architect, the natural world has always played a major role in their life and art. They are interested in the power of dreams: how they manifest, how we portray them in performance, and their relationship with the more-than-human environment. Outside of theatre projects you’ll find them in the kitchen baking a complicated cookie recipe or learning a new folk song on guitar!
