This event has been postponed indefinitely.
Last year, Karen Simms and I embarked on a journey with women in our community to explore Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. Over the course of nine months we wrote, painted, laughed, cried, engaged in spirited conversation and ate good food. What began as a way to gather and share has blossomed into an opportunity for a larger project. Local graphic designer Linda Kwon approached Karen about turning the outcome of our gatherings into a graphic novel about trauma and resilience. Linda was recently awarded a Sappi: Ideas that Matter grant and the project is moving forward. We are grateful that this journey will continue and have a life beyond us.
